In the last couple of weeks, there has been growing support for the Italian goalkeeper to win the Ballon d’Or, however, former Real Madrid player Roberto Carlos thinks otherwise.

Roberto Carlos says that despite Buffon may be the best goalkeeper in history, he has no chance of the Ballon d’Or over Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo is the current holder of the award, and if he wins it again it would be his fifth time, which would pull level with Lionel Messi again.

However, there has been growing support lately for Buffon to win it after he had a great season, recently winning Serie A.

Roberto Carlos told Goal.com the following: “Of course, Buffon is the best goalkeeper in history but for what Cristiano is doing, it’s difficult to take the Ballon d’Or from him. He is the best in the world,”
