Chelsea will be left fuming with the latest developments of Romelu Lukaku transfer. The Blues were hoping to sign the Belgian striker this summer, but rivals Manchester United moved faster and it now appears that the player is set to join the Red Devils.

United are looking to replace star man Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the centre of the attack line. Their attempts to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid have proven futile, as Florentino Perez rejected multiple offers, holding on to his €90m valuation of the player.

According to SkySports, United’s interest in Morata has now ended and Jose Mourinho has changed his target. The Reds have moved fast, and submitted a £75m bid, which was reportedly accepted by Everton.

The Toffees have worked hard lately to bring in replacements for Lukaku, planning for next season without him. Sandro Ramirez from Malaga joined, while Wayne Rooney and Olivier Giroud have both been linked with a move to Goodison Park.

The deal to bring Lukaku to Old Trafford would not be linked to the one that would see Wayne Rooney returning to his boyhood club, according to Sky.

Romelu Lukaku scored 25 goals in 37 Premier League appearances last season. While none of the clubs have yet confirmed the deal, Manchester United are hopeful that the player will pass his medical tests in time to join the squad before leaving for the United States tour.
