Even though the Citizens can afford to come up with an outstanding offer for the Argentine, it would never be a matter of money for him.

Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero admitted he would love to have his fellow countryman Lionel Messi join him at the Etihad Stadium, but knows very well that such a move will be really tricky to pull off.

There have been serious speculations regarding the future of the Catalan, who entered the final year of his contract with Barcelona, but has not agreed anything with the club in regards to a new deal. However, the La Liga side’s president Josep Maria Bartomeu claimed more than once that Messi’s renewal is a ‘done deal’ that simply has to be publicly announced.

Speaking to TyC Sport regarding a possible partnership with Messi in Manchester City, Agüero stated:

“The money isn’t a problem here. I think Messi, like [Cristiano] Ronaldo, are players who are symbols of their clubs and it’s difficult for them to leave.

“I would love to have Leo on my team, but that seems quite complicated.”
