Raheem Sterling scored the winning goal in Manchester City’s latest 2-1 win over Southampton in the dying minutes and his teammate, Ilkay Gündogan, said that he has been unbelievable this season so far.

It has become an ordinary thing to do for Raheem Sterling as he scored another late goal and sealed the victory for Manchester City – he scored in the 96th minute as his side won the match 2-1. It’s the fourth time Sterling has scored a goal in the 84th or after that – he netted very late winners against Bournemouth, Huddersfield and Feyenoord this season and the season is not even in its half. It was the 12th straight win for the Citizens and they are 8 points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

The Germany international spoke about his teammate as he said: “The way he scored was just incredible, especially in the last seconds of the game. It is not easy to do that and he is playing an unbelievable season. He was definitely the main man out there and we are so happy to have him. I guess this is why we play football, why everybody loves to watch football. We feel so happy after that second goal. It was a really good day for us.”

Gündogan added that they were facing a really tough opponent and the victory is a very valuable one: “We were against a really tough opponent. We didn’t really expect them to defend 90 minutes like they did and they created two or three dangerous situations after corners.”

In the end, he claimed that his side’s win was well-deserved after all and he is happy with another three points: “That was not so easy but, all in all, I think we performed well. We are just really happy we have won the game and we just continue with our winning series.”
