Ilkay Gundogan is wary of the threat that Manchester City will face against Arsenal at the Emirates on Thursday night, despite beating them 3-0 in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final

The two sides will meet at the Emirates on Thursday as City aim to restore their 16 point lead over local rivals Manchester United. Though Gundogan is expecting a difficult encounter nevertheless and still rates Arsenal as a strong team.

“We know Arsenal are able to play, they have a strong team. It is going to be challenging and we need to be ready.” said Gundogan, according to Sky Sports.

“It won’t be easy. It is just maybe a bit weird to play them twice in four days.”

It will mark City’s second encounter against Arsenal in just four days with another Premier League fixture against Chelsea coming up on Sunday and then the second leg of their Round of 16 Champions League tie against FC Basel will take place at the Eithad stadium next week. Gundogan conceded that the squad have had little time to celebrate.

“There are still plenty of huge games to play and the next one is on Thursday against the same opponent. It doesn’t stop.” said the German.

“There is not really a break to relax or enjoy. Now we try to prepare for the game on Thursday and try to get another win.”
