Anthony Martial’s agent has confirmed that his client intends to leave Manchester United in the summer transfer window
The French forward has endured a difficult two years under Jose Mourinho and recently rejected a new contract offer from United with Martial having grown increasingly frustrated about his growing lack of opportunities at Old Trafford since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez in January.
As a result, the 22-year-old was left out of Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the 2018 World Cup and has been linked with a move away from United all season.
His agent, Philippe Lamboley, has now confirmed that Martial does intend to leave Old Trafford.
“After reflecting carefully on all the possibilities and all the parameters, Anthony has decided he wants to leave Manchester United,” he told RMC.
“Manchester United wanted to offer Anthony a contract extension and don’t want him to leave, but we haven’t been able to reach an agreement after several months of talks.
“If Manchester United, the most powerful club in the world, can’t reach an agreement after eight months of negotiations, it means they don’t really consider him to be an important player.
“We simply don’t share their view of Anthony’s future. He is disappointed, because he has shown love for the club and supporters over the last three years. I can tell you that without the unconditional love of the supporters, Anthony wouldn’t have asked to leave Manchester United sooner.”
The Frenchman will have no shortage of interest ahead of this summer’s transfer market with Tottenham and Juventus believed to be the front-runners for his signature.
In 30 Premier League appearances last season, Martial only started 18 of those games.
