Croatia midfielder Luka Modric is relishing the prospect of taking on England for a place in the World Cup final
The Real Madrid star has started all five of the side’s matches in the tournament and will be hoping to continue with his impressive form at Russia in order to keep up his bid to win the Golden Ball award.
After playing over 240 minutes of football in their last knockout rounds against Denmark and Russia, Modric conceded that England may have an advantage over them heading into today’s encounter.
“Always playing England is special,” said Modric, according to the Evening Standard.
“They’re a great team, doing a great tournament so far, like us. They’re suffering less, but showed against Sweden the great quality they have and we’re expecting a tough match – but we will be ready.”
While Harry Kane has scored six of England’s 11 goals, Croatia’s versatility may prove to be an advantage with the squad having had eight different scorers at the World Cup.
