Tottenham hopes of signing Malcom from Bordeaux this summer appear to have suffered a big blow with Everton now in pole position to land the highly-rated forward in a £30m deal, reports Sky Sports
The Brazilian has been linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 for the past year after impressing at Bordeaux since his arrival in January 2016 from Corinthians.
The likes of both Arsenal and Manchester United were believed to be interested in signing Malcom back in the January transfer window before they opted to do a trade deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alexis Sanchez.
Tottenham had been one of the leading contenders for Malcom’s signature this summer with Inter Milan also having been interested in prizing the 21-year-old away from France.
But it appears now that Everton have emerged as the unlikely favourites with Marco Silva’s side having agreed on a £30m deal plus add-ons for Malcom.
This signing will represent a major coup for the Toffees with Malcom reportedly set to be offered a five-year contract that will see him earn £80,000-a-week.
Further talks are expected to take place with Bordeaux chairman Stephane Martin on Thursday, as Everton look to pull off one of the biggest surprises in the summer transfer window.
Malcom scored 12 goals and made seven assists in 35 league games for Bordeaux last season
