Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has praised the impact of Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker and expects him to become even better.
Alisson has played two friendly matches and one premier league match but Van Dijk can already see the quality that he brings to the Liverpool team. Daily Mail reports.
The 25-year-old kept a clean sheet and was impressive in Liverpool’s 4-0 win against West Ham on Sunday, but Virgil van Dijk says he can do even better.
“He has been very good,” said van Dijk.
“We speak a lot. He’s very vocal and that helps. It helps me and everyone in the back line. I think his presence is very good as well. He has a lot of qualities on the ball that helps us playing.”
“We’ve worked on (the relationship) in pre-season and we’ll keep practicing. There’s still a lot to do. It’s just one game.”
“We had a good pre-season with good results and games where we’ve played very well. But we can do a lot better. It’s just the start. The key is we need to be very consistent and do it every game.”
When asked if Liverpool are title contenders, Van Dijk said: “The most important thing is that we look at ourselves”
“We know that right now we have a great squad. We have a lot of quality players. Everyone who plays for Liverpool has a lot of quality. It’s all about being consistent. We want to challenge for any competition. But we must look at ourselves.”
