The Italian attacking midfielder is sure that missing the World Cup and the bad start at the UEFA Nations League is something his team can overcome

Federico Bernardeschi has been playing for Italy since 2011.

The Juventus attacking midfielder represented his country in the U18, U19, U20 and U21 squads.

And now he has been with the senior team since 2016, with 14 appearances and one goal.

Italy national team have suffered in the last months. First, the European side misses the chance to go to the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

And now it has not won in two matches, out of six, in the UEFA Nations League and might get relegated from League A of the tournament.

“When you reach the bottom, you need to take each other’s hands to get back up again: what must be avoided is criticism of a group of youngsters, pointing out that they are not ready,” he told Gianluca Di Marzio.

“We’ll give them time to grow. It takes a mentality that brings Italy back to the top, where it belongs.”

“There must be a core group that works for the same objective: to bring Italian football back,” he added.

“There are many youngsters with personality and potential, we have a healthy and strong group that can bring Italy back.”

“Obviously, youngsters can’t be veterans, it takes time.”

“Roberto Mancini is the right man to bring us back. He has played football, he knows what it is, he was a great champion and even a great coach. We have to have faith and patience in his work,” he explained.
