England will have to make do without Danny Rose and Alex McCarthy for Friday’s Uefa Nations League clash with Croatia
The Three Lions will be out for revenge against the Croatian side that knocked them out of the World Cup at the semi-final stage three months ago.
But manager Gareth Southgate, who signed a new contract last week, will be without Tottenham left-back Rose and Southampton goalkeeper McCarthy at the Stadion HNK Rijeka.
England announced on their Twitter account that the pair have withdrawn due to the “minor injuries” and have now returned to their clubs.
Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell will now likely make his first senior start for England in place of the injured Rose, while Southgate still has another three keepers to choose from.
Following an injury to Burnley centre-back James Tarkowski, Brighton’s Lewis Dunk has received a late call-up.
The Croatia and England game will begin at 20:00 (CEST) on Friday.
