After winning the match against Argentina, Brazilian midfielder Arthur expressed how happy he feels playing beside Casemiro and Coutinho.

During the last World Cup in Russia, Brazil really missed a midfielder who could protect the ball like Arthur Melo did and could let both Casemiro and Coutinho play more liberated in their positions.

This Tuesday in the South American Clasico between Brazil and Argentina, we got our first glimpse at what we can expect from Arthur when he reaches his top form.

Brazil played a really complicated match against Argentina this Tuesday, they barely got to defeat the Albiceleste without Lionel Messi and a great deal of that victory is thanks to the work that Arthur did alongside Casemiro and Philippe Coutinho.

Melo already gets to practice with Coutinho in Barcelona, he will also get to play many matches alongside him and maybe even form a dynasty that can win many trophies in the Catalan club.

However, the connection with Casemiro just started this Tuesday and Arthur was ecstatic for getting the chance to share the field with a world-class defensive midfielder like the Madridista against Argentina.

Arthur was part of the squad that defeated the Albiceleste from the very beginning, he played a fairly good match in an evening that a single goal scored by Miranda during the second half gave Brazil the victory in the end.

“I am very happy with my personal performance and with the overall collective achievement that we made today,” said Arthur via Diario Sport after Brazil’s victory against Argentina on Tuesday.

“I have played with confidence and a very relaxed thanks to my teammates, who believe in my work. I do believe we are building a great squad and playing alongside players of the likes of Casemiro and Philippe Coutinho makes things a lot easier.”

“It is always great being able to defeat Argentina, and even better than I did it on my first Clasico I played against them. Plus, there was a trophy on the line. Every single player loves being a part of huge matches like this one.”

Neither the heat nor the pitch can be an excuse to not perform in a match like this one, but we did find some difficulties because Argentina is a very tough opponent and they have a fantastic squad,” he concluded.

Arthur’s return to Barcelona

This match must have been a revelation for both the player and manager Ernesto Valverde, who was very focused on watching his midfielder with the greatest potential in Barcelona.

There is still no clue of who the boss will use for this Saturday’s La Liga match against Sevilla, but Valverde surely does have the intention of getting Arthur more minutes during this stage of the season.

Barcelona’s defensive problems might also be beneficial for the Brazilian, because the manager will use his more defensive midfield players as center-backs in the next couple of months and Arthur doesn’t make that cut.

The gaffer has plans of using Sergio Busquets and Arturo Vidal in that position, which will leave Melo a greater role as the game constructor that he is for very important matches that are coming within the next month at least.

The absence of Thomas Vermaelen which was confirmed last week, will give everybody a much more important role at Barcelona and Arthur will be no different from the rest of his teammates.
