France boss Didier Deschamps has recalled Anthony Martial to the national team ahead of their games with the Netherlands and Uruguay

The Manchester United forward last featured for France in a 3-1 friendly win at Russia in Saint Petersburg on March 27.

Since then, Martial has missed Les Bleus’ triumphant World Cup campaign over the summer and the last two international breaks as well.

However, on the back of scoring five goals in his last four Premier League games, Martial has been rewarded with a return to the France squad.

The French football federation announced on Twitter that Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is also included, but the uncapped Aymeric Laporte of Manchester City remains a no-show.

Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette, who has scored five goals and provided three assists in 11 league games, hasn’t been called -up though.

It’s now been a year since Lacazette last played for France in that 2-2 draw with Germany, where he scored both goals.

The world champions will first to the Netherlands next Friday in the UEFA Nations League before hosting a friendly with Uruguay at Paris four days later.
