With his two goals against Viktoria Plzen, Karim Benzema surpassed a historic milestone and entered an exclusive Real Madrid club.

There has been so much said against Karim Benzema throughout the years, pretty much everybody has doubted his capabilities as a player and almost nobody has valued him on the level that he’s clearly always deserved.

The Frenchman started the season in top form after Cristiano Ronaldo left, it seemed like he would have the best season of his life and even we were starting to think that he had been blocked by Cristiano’s monopoly all this time.

But Los Blancos started piling up negative results under manager Julen Lopetegui, something that brought up some of the worst moments for Karim Benzema during the current season as well.

Now that the previous manager is long gone, the goals suddenly started coming back at the same time that Benzema himself turned to his lucky football boots in order to get back that lost confidence.

This new chapter of the season for Karim, has actually brought some of his most impressive level of performance and it has accentuated some of his biggest skills as a forward who moves around all the areas of the attacking positions inside the pitch.

Turns out that the Solari system works perfectly for Karim, as he proved this Wednesday against Viktoria Plzen with a historic brace.

Before the match against the Czech club, the French forward had scored 199 goals with the Real Madrid shirt and one more strike would get him into a pantheon of incredible players who have reached that number with Los Blancos.

Only another six strikers have managed to score more than 200 goals in Real Madrid’s history, the list is led by Cristiano Ronaldo’s 450 goals, then Raul Gonzalez is next with his 323 goals, Alfredo Di Stefano scored 308 and kept the record for many decades, Santillana got all the way to 289 goals, Puskas got to score 241, and Hugo Sanchez managed to net 208 goals during his time as the Real Madrid striker during the 80’s.

Benzema just reached 201 goals, which is only 7 behind the Mexican striker and still a bit far away from Ferenc Puskas but not impossible.

Karim has played 420 matches for Real Madrid, a time in which he has scored those 201 goals and provided 115 assists to his teammates.

This leaves Benzema with a direct involvement in 216 goals throughout his career with Los Blancos, numbers that place him as a true Real Madrid legend during modern times.

While the Frenchman may not be a goal scoring machine like Cristiano and Messi are, he truly is one of the best “mortals” who ever played the game and has amazing stats that prove it.

Put of all the goals he has scored for Real Madrid, a total of 131 were scored at first touch, 40 of them were at two touches, and a total of 30 were scored after three or more touches.

The clubs that have suffered the most goals from Karim Benzema have been Malaga and Granada, squad to which he has already scored 10 goals against each. And finally, going back to the boots he has decided to wear during this season.

The yellow Adidas he has switched to when Santiago Solari started coaching the squad, is a pair that he wore during the 2015-2016 season when he scored 28 goals in all competitions.

Those boots clearly bring Karim more confidence and luck, because that season was the one in which he scored his second biggest tally for Real Madrid, only behind the 32 goals he scored during the 2011-2012 season when Los Blancos won La Liga under Jose Mourinho.
