Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is reportedly planning a reunion with his former Napoli defender at Stamford Bridge after asking the club to complete the transfer in January
Cesar Azpilicueta and Davide Zappacosta have failed to impress the Italian tactician this season, especially the latter, who has so far registered just one Premier League outing.
The Blues are engaged in battles on multiple fronts, which is why Sarri needs some extra quality and depth in his current squad.
Therefore, former Napoli coach wants to lure Elseid Hysaj to the Premier League, as he plans to reinforce the right-back position ahead of the second half of the season, according to TalkSport.
The 24-year-old Albanian was a regular starter under Sarri and has continued to hold down the right flank under Carlo Ancelotti.
This season, Hysaj has started 12 out of Napoli’s 13 Serie A matches, providing one assist in the process.
Chelsea are the third Premier League side to show interest in ex-Empoli man after Manchester United and Arsenal.
