The exciting atmosphere is in full flow when it comes to Aston Villa at the moment and the players seem just as excited as the fans to be part of the Dean Smith revolution.

An emphatic 3-0 victory over Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium moved Villa back to the brink of the Championship play-off places and took their unbeaten run to five matches.

That includes four victories – the only minor blip was that thrilling 5-5 draw with Nottingham Forest – which explains why Smith’s men have a spring in their step.

Villa know they need to be firmly planted in the top six by the turn of the year and that is exactly where they intend to be with a trip to rivals West Bromwich Albion up next.
