Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes Sunday’s Merseyside derby is a perfect way for Jurgen Klopp’s men to make a positive statement to fans and get back to winning ways.
The Reds Legend told The Echo “Fortunately, all the bad results have been in the one competition so Liverpool are still fighting at the top of the Premier League.
“The game at the weekend will be a really tough one but Arsenal are playing Spurs earlier in the day so a couple of the top teams are playing each other, and while it’s a tough fixture, Liverpool should be confident,” he said via Liverpool Echo
“Liverpool have a great record at Anfield and a great record against Everton also, so they should be confident going into this one.”
Jamie Carragher, however, cautioned against Everton’s tactical approach to games
I don’t think Everton will just be sitting back, I think if you look at their games this season, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, they obviously haven’t picked up any points yet but I think the performances have given a lift to Everton supporters,” he added.
Liverpool are second on the league table with 33 points while Everton are 6th on the table with 22 points.
