Kick It Out have released a statement after a Tottenham supporter was arrested for throwing a banana skin at Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on Sunday

The incident occurred in the 10th-minute of the game, which saw Aubameyang score the first of his two goals for Arsenal through a penalty.

The Gabon striker celebrated his opener near the visiting Spurs fans with CCTV capturing the moment the supporter threw a banana skin at Aubameyang.

In total, seven arrests were made in the hotly-disputed North London derby with Kick It Out now reacting.

Football’s equality and inclusion organisation condemned the supporter’s racist actions and welcomed news of a police investigation.

“Our latest reporting figures show incidents of racism are on the rise and the banana throwing at #NLD [the north London derby] should be seen in that context,” read a statement on Twitter.

“We condemn this action, welcome the police investigation – the person who did this should be banned from football for life.”

The Times reporter Martyn Ziegler also announced UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has branded the incident a disaster on Twitter.

Arsenal won the game on Sunday after three second-half goals from Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Lucas Torreira secured them a 4-2 win.
