Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva insists the team’s victory against Liverpool took its toll on the club’s players following their 2-2 draw against Bordeaux.

The French champions saw their perfect record in the league come to an end after they were held to a draw at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux.

“We could have a won this evening, but it was a little difficult for our bodies after the sort of game we had against Liverpool on Wednesday,” Silva said, according to the club’s official website.

“But it was a good match, a lot of goals, and the fans must have enjoyed the show. Of course I’m not happy to have conceded two goals, but that’s football. Our series of wins has come to an end, but we have to move forward and keep working.”

Julian Draxler also revealed his thoughts about the game, saying:

“We knew it would be tough this evening after a big game against Liverpool.”

“I think that we played well, but no doubt we weren’t at 100% today. Bordeaux deserved a point, but we could have had one or two penalties during the game that would have changed everything. We didn’t win this evening, we’re going to focus ourselves to do better on Wednesday.”
