Arsenal manager Unai Emery admits Mesut Ozil remains an uncertainty ahead of Wednesday’s showdown with Manchester United

The Gunners will take the trip to Old Trafford on the back of their stunning 4-2 derby comeback win over rivals Tottenham on Sunday.

One notable absentee in the North London derby was Ozil due to back spasms pains.

The German playmaker didn’t show up in training on Monday with his teammates and looks set to miss another big fixture for Arsenal.

“I said on Sunday that he’s had a backache since last Tuesday,” Emery told reporters on Arsenal.com. “He couldn’t play in Kiev or on Sunday.

“At the moment, I don’t know if he can play in Manchester. Today he was working alone, I don’t know if he’s OK for Wednesday.”

Ozil hasn’t featured for Arsenal since their 1-1 draw with Wolves on November 11 after starting 10 of their opening 12 Premier League fixtures.

Arsenal will also be without the suspended Granit Xhaka on Wednesday with Danny Welbeck, Nacho Monreal, Laurent Koscielny and Konstantinos Mavropanos all still sidelined with injuries.
