Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is reportedly planning on sitting Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi together in the presidential box for the 2018 Copa Libertadores final

The Santiago Bernabeu will host the second leg of the final between Argentine giants River Plate and Boca Juniors following the events of the past few weeks.

The final was postponed last month after a group of fans attacked the Boca team bus as they travelled to El Monumental stadium.

This caused South American football’s governing body (CONMEBOL) to make a shocking announcement that the Copa Libertadores final would be staged in Madrid instead.

Now AS reports that Perez is plotting Ronaldo’s return to the Spanish capital this Sunday, where he plans to have the Portuguese star sit alongside long-time rival Messi.

The Spanish FA (RFEF) and CONMEBOL both fully support Perez’s proposal with Messi now expected to attend.

However, Ronaldo is yet to confirm his plans to make a return to Madrid given the manner of his departure this summer.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner confessed in an interview in October that Perez was the main factor behind his exit from Real Madrid as the Spaniard no longer valued him.

With Juventus facing Inter Milan in the Serie A on Friday though, AS expects Ronaldo to take the chance to make a return to Madrid this Sunday.
