Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has taken a swipe at his players following the team’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal.

United came back from a goal down on two separate occasions to earn a point against high-flying Arsenal at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Mourinho lamented his team’s mistakes but did praise their effort at Old Trafford.

“We shoot ourselves so many times during the season. That is really, really difficult, but big soul by the players,” Mourinho said, according to Goal.

“Fantastic attitude from the first minute. Many players in difficulties, some good performances but players in difficulty.

“We should win the game. We made two big mistakes for their goals, we made other mistakes that were the mistakes to allow them to have counter-attack situations.”

The former Chelsea manager was forced to name different squad against the Arsenal, with some new faces getting a start on Wednesday.

“Diogo Dalot the first [Premier League] start, Marcos Rojo the first minutes [of the season], Matteo Darmian the third [Premier League] start, Eric Bailly doesn’t play for a couple months,” Mourinho said.

Mourinho, however, ended his press conference by calling out his players in an apparent shot at their lack of talent compared to other top teams in the league.

“It’s a positive sign but there are things that I cannot get from them and I cannot say much more than this,” Mourinho said.

When asked to speak further on the comment, the Portuguese gaffer refused to elaborate.

“I prefer just to say that I’m happy with the soul, the commitment the bravery – I’m really happy with that.”
