Cristiano Ronaldo has provided an update on the rape allegations that continue to surround him and insists he is remaining calm and is certain it will come to an end soon

The Juventus star has been accused by ex-American model Kathryn Mayorga of raping her in a Vegas hotel suite back in 2009.

Afterwards, Ms Mayorga claimed she had signed a settlement of £287,000 from Ronaldo in 2010 with Vegas police confirming the original case was closed in 2009 due to a lack of evidence.

But, in light of the #MeToo campaign, Ms Mayorga was inspired to go public and reopen the case in September.

Ronaldo has since denied Ms Mayorga’s allegations and announced he’s remaining calm and confident over the case.

Sherwood: Emery must make Ozil feel like Arsenal’s ‘main man’

Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood believes Unai Emery must keep Mesut Ozil on side at Arsenal and advised him to tell him whatever he...

“It hurts me to see my family upset about the news,” Ronaldo told Daily Record.

“But they know I would never be able to do that.

“I am completely calm and very confident that soon everything will be clear.”

Ronaldo also announced his intention to return to Portugal at international level in 2019.

The 33-year-old will likely be back in action for Juventus’ trip to Bologna in the Coppa Italia on January 12.
