English side Manchester United are set to negotiate a move for Nikola Milenkovic this week, according to reports.

The Fiorentina defender has been on the radar of the Old Trafford side for long and a deal is expected to be signed soon.

Mirror Football first reported the news last October that United’s Vice Chairman Ed Woodward was preparing a possible January purchase for the highly rated Serbian defender.

The  centre-back who has been impressive for Fiorentina this season was paid a scouting visit by former United manager Jose Mourinho although club scouts had earlier recommended him.

Manchester United are reportedly heading the queue as a number of clubs line up to purchase the defender who is rated at £45 million.

Tottenham and Liverpool are believed to have been interested too, while Serie A champions Juventus are also admirers.

Milenkovic is versatile defender who can operate from any area of defense.
