Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has revealed his delight after the team’s hard-fought victory against Getafe on Sunday night.

The Catalan club defeated Getafe 2-1 thanks to goals from Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, making the most of Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla’s drooped points to move further clear at the top of the Spanish league.

Suarez, whose goal ensured all three points for Ernesto Valverde’s side, praised the team ’s determination and attitude.

“They are a very strong side at home,” Suarez said of Getafe, as quoted by Marca.

“We know their qualities in the way they play and defend.”

“These are the matches that give you the league, more because of the results than the way of playing.”

Facing Getafe on their home soil is never an easy task due to their physicality but the Suarez says their opponents’ aggression stays on the pitch.

“They are games with a lot of scuffling,” he added.

“There’s a lot of discussions, but everything remains on the field.”

The Uruguay international also refused to rule Real Madrid out of the title race, despite Los Blancos being 10 points behind Barcelona following their 2-0 home loss to Real Sociedad.

“They are not out of it,” Suarez said.

“It depends on how the coming months go.”
