Gary Rowett has been fired from Stoke City today, despite having only been in charge for eight months

The former Derby County boss replaced Paul Lambert in the dugout at the bet365 Stadium in May following Stoke’s relegation from the Premier League.

But Stoke’s hopes of securing a quick return to the English top-flight appear bleak with the club currently down in 14th-place in the Championship table and eight points off a playoff spot.

And Saturday’s 1-1 FA Cup draw against English third division side Shrewsbury Town proved to be Rowett’s final chance with Stoke only winning three of their last 15 games in all competitions.
