Eden Hazard has outgrown the current Chelsea squad and is simply just too good for them now, says Jermaine Jenas

The Belgian superstar delivered another superb performance on Tuesday night, but couldn’t prevent Chelsea from losing the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie 1-0 to Tottenham.

Hazard has picked up most of the slack this term for Chelsea with manager Maurizio Sarri even starting him as a centre-forward due to Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud’s struggles in front of goal.

And, amid all the uncertainty surrounding his future at Stamford Bridge, former Spurs star Jenas weighed in by claiming Hazard has outgrown the Chelsea team.

“I thought Eden Hazard was unplayable,” Jenas said on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“Chelsea are a top side but I think he has outgrown them and he is above [the] level of everybody around him.

“I never thought I would say it, but he’s too good for this Chelsea team.”

Hazard, who is yet to agree on a new contract at Chelsea, has been strongly linked with a transfer to Real Madrid, which he described as a “dream” move in October.
