Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Antonio Adan insists he’s focusing on the positives after the team’s 1-1 draw at Girona in the Copa Del Rey on Wednesday.
The former Real Betis shot-stopper was partly at fault as Los Rojiblancos wasted a one-goal lead away at Girona, after Adan’s unsuccessful attempt at saving Choco Lozano’s goal.
“It was a ball that was difficult to deal with because of the wind,” Adan said, according to Marca.
“In the last 20 minutes of the first half it was complicated by the wind.”
“They put in several crosses and it was unfortunate.”
Despite the second leg coming at the Wanda Metropolitano, Diego Simeone’s side will be disappointed not to have taken a win back to Madrid, but the Adan disagrees.
“It is positive because it gives us an advantage in the second leg,” he added.
“Obviously we wanted more, especially because of how we started the game.”
“It leaves a bittersweet taste, but we take an advantage back with us.”
“It’s a tough team and a difficult stadium,” he said of Girona.
“We knew it and we prepared for it.”
“It’s good that it is a two-legged tie and now we can play in our home stadium and we have to win.”
