Refereeing expert Andujar Oliver has been discussing major incidents during Real Madrid’s win over Leganes on Wednesday.

Los Blancos won the first leg of the Copa Del Rey tie 3-0 at home courtesy of goals from Sergio Ramos, Lucas Vazquez and Vinicius Junior.

Refereeing decisions were always going to be major discussion after Santiago Solari’s side returned to action just a few days after they were denied a penalty against Real Sociedad and match referee Jesus Gil Manzano didn’t have to wait long before having to make a big call on Wednesday night.

After failing to award a penalty a kick for a foul on Alvaro Odriozola in the 25th minute, he eventually awarded the host a penalty just before halftime as the Spain international was brought down in the box.

The referee should have given a penalty,” Andujar said, according to Marca.

“[Rodrigo] Tarin knocks over Odriozola when the full-back was about to confront the Leganes goalkeeper.”

Speaking about the second incident involving Odriozola, Andujar said:

“On this occasion, the action from Gerard Gumbau towards Odriozola shouldn’t have been punished with a penalty.”

“It’s a brush and not a knocking over of the player, as was the case with the first fall of the full-back.”
