Manchester United goalkeeper Joel Pereira is set to go loan to Reading after a six-month loan spell at Vitoria Setubal, according to Daily Mail.

The Championship club lead the chase to sign the highly-rated goalkeeper for the final five months of the season, as they look to avoid relegation to League One.

On Wednesday, it was announced that the 22-year-old was returning back to United after a mixed spell at Vitoria Setubal.

The Red Devils are looking to let Pereira leave on loan once again in order for him to get more game time under his belt, as well as competitive match experience.

The former Portugal U-21 international only played nine games for the Portuguese club but didn’t enjoy his spell back in his home nation.

With United possessing an abundance of options in the goalkeeper department, and they feel its best for Pereira to go out on loan.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team have David de Gea, Sergio Romero and Lee Grant as their first-team options with Dean Henderson currently impressing out on loan at Sheffield United.
