Sevilla manager Pablo Machin’s only concern lies with what goes on the pitch with transfer matters being left to the club

Los Rojiblancos have been heavily linked with moves for Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata and Barcelona’s Munir El Haddadi in this month’s transfer window.

Director of football Joaquin Caparros has confirmed Sevilla’s interest in the strike duo with the latter being the most probable arrival right now.

But Machin insists his sole concern lies with what goes on the pitch as Sevilla seek to continue their superb campaign in La Liga, where they currently sit third in the standings.

“We’re trying to get players who few clubs are able to sign,” said Machin on the club website.

“If for whatever circumstances that maybe we can’t get anyone you can feel frustrated. We want the best to come and if not we’ll lower the standards slightly so it’s more accessible.

Howe: Bournemouth deserved to win

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has praised his side's discipline and hard work after their 2-0 home win against West Ham on Saturday. Howe was impressed...

“What I have to do is focus on my work and let the people who have this job do their work to strengthen Sevilla.”

Tonight Sevilla will go up against a rejuvenated Athletic Bilbao in the last-16 of the Copa del Rey in what will be the first of back-to-back games at the San Mames.

And Machin is wary of the threat Athletic will provide after three wins in their first five games under new manager Gaizka Garitano, who’s yet to suffer defeat.

“Athletic have had a drastic change in results under their new manager,” added Machin.

“They haven’t lost yet and that will make our match very competitive. They don’t take as many risks and play a simpler football. They’ve returned to what Athletic has always been and they’ve gone more direct, and it’s getting them points.”

The match between Athletic and Sevilla will begin at 19:30 (CET).
