Bayern Munich defender Rafinha confirmed that he’s close to reaching an agreement with Flamengo for a free transfer this summer
The Brazilian full-back previously announced at the end of last month that he will likely leave Bayern once his contract expires in June.
At the time, Rafinha added that he had held no talks with any clubs yet out of respect for his current employers.
But the 33-year-old has now confirmed talks with Brazilian side Flamengo with a summer move looking like a strong possibility.
“There is mutual interest,” Rafinha told Bild.
“We are about to reach an agreement. Some details are still missing. But I hope we can resolve this as soon as possible. I want to make it clear that Flamengo is my first option when I return to Brazil.
“I have seen the whole Flamengo project and I really liked it. I still want to win titles and I saw the opportunity with Flamengo.”
Since arriving from Serie A side Genoa in 2011, Rafinha has gone on to make 255 appearances for Bayern as well as winning six successive Bundesliga crowns.
The Champions League, Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, DFB-Pokal (3 times) and the DFL-Supercup (4 times) have all been won in his seven years at Munich.
Although Rafinha has found opportunities hard to come by this season with just five starts in his nine Bundesliga appearances.
