Brighton manager Chris Hughton has no doubts over Liverpool’s strength right now ahead of Saturday’s Premier League match

The Seagulls will host the league leaders at the Amex Stadium this weekend hoping to extend their unbeaten run to five matches.

But Hughton expects a battle on their hands against Liverpool, who he believes remain the favourites for the league crown despite losing their last two games.

Currently, the Reds boast a four-point advantage over Manchester City at the top of the standings.

“At this moment I think they’re favourites, simply because of the point difference and that I think they’ve been outstanding,” said Hughton on the club website.

“If we’re looking at the next team who are going to challenge the most, I don’t think I’d be speaking out of turn if I spoke about Manchester City.

“You certainly can’t write off a Manchester City team that have been the best team over the last few seasons and played the best football.

“I think Liverpool are favourites but I couldn’t tell you who’s going to win it, and I certainly wouldn’t put money on it.”

The Brighton and Liverpool game will begin at 16:00 (CET) on Saturday.
