Former Scotland national team head coach Gordon Strachan insists Chelsea must loan out Callum Hudson-Odoi rather than sell him permanently to Bayern Munich.

The German champions have made four bids to sign the England U-19 winger, who has only three Premier League appearances to his name so far.

Reports in the English press suggest that Hudson-Odoi will reject Chelsea’s latest contract offer and wants to leave the club this month.

But Strachan told Sky Sports:

Kovac says Bayern is confident ahead of league restart

The German Bundesliga will restart on Friday and Bayern Munich will visit Hoffenheim as they look onto winning another title. After the German Bundesliga winter...

“I would put him on loan to a really good club and say he has to play, if he doesn’t then we will bring him back. That would give him minutes and he would still be attached to Chelsea.”

“This is not an easy decision. The priority has to be getting him games between 18-21. If he does that, with the talent he has got, then he will flourish from the age of 21. If he doesn’t do that then he could flitter out of the game.”

“Will he have more chance to play at Chelsea or Bayern Munich? You need to speak to the people who are involved and then he has to take a chance himself.”

“The most important thing for these kids between 18-21 is playing regular football. I worry about Ruben Loftus-Cheek because he’s a real talent but he doesn’t play much. It’s not enough to learn the game.”
