The Germany U21 international has been heavily linked with a move to Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Italian giants Juventus. Although, it is now official that the young midfielder will remain in the Bundesliga.

Mahmoud Dahoud has agreed to join Borussia Dortmund from Borussia Mönchengladbach at the end of this Bundesliga campaign. Reports suggest the fee is around €10m and may raise to €15m.

The 21-year-old midfielder has signed a contract with Dortmund until June 2022.

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc told Dortmund’s official website following:

Mahmoud Dahoud is a hugely talented and exciting player for central midfield and one we have been watching intensively for several years.

He has already shown he can play at the top level.

The highly rated midfielder had reportedly been the subject of a transfer clash between Dortmund, Liverpool and Juventus in recent days. It is now official that Dortmund won that race.

Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl said following ahead of the move:

It was important for the player and the club that a decision was reached. Now it’s off our minds and we can move on.

We will reinvest the money we get for Dahoud and try to find a good replacement for him.

The 21-year-old midfielder has made 32 appearances in all competitions for Gladbach this season, including four Champions League clashes. Dahoud has made 4 assist and scoring one goal this Bundesliga campaign.

Mahmoud Dahoud and the rest of the Gladbach squad returns to the Bundesliga on April 1 against Frankfurt.
