Atletico Madrid host the biggest surprise of the Champions League tonight at the Vicente Calderon

On Wednesday night, the first leg of the quarter-finals between Atletico Madrid and Leicester City will take place.

Atletico host Champions League debutants Leicester City for the first leg, which could be a tough test for Diego Simeone and his team.

Atletico Madrid easily defeated Bayer Leverkusen in the round of 16. The outcome was already decided in the first leg in Germany, were Atletico Madrid won 4-2. The second leg ended in a boring 0-0.

Atletico Madrid are on an 8 match unbeaten run in all competitions with a 1-1 draw against Real Madrid recently. Their last defeat was in February against Barcelona at the Estadio Vicente Calderon. Atletico Madrid have had five clean-sheets in this unbeaten run.

Leicester City on the other hand has seen their Champions League form as totally opposite compared to their Premier League campaign. They qualified as group winners in front of FC Porto and FC Copenhagen following their win against Sevilla in the round of 16.

Leicester City have been in amazing form since Craig Shakespeare took charge of the team. Before their 4-2 defeat against Everton this weekend they notched up six straight wins.

This will be the two sides first ever meeting in a UEFA competition, with Atletico Madrid as favorites on paper. However, it is going be a tough test for Diego Simeone. Leicester is playing some different football than Atletico Madrid is used meet in La Liga. A playing style which might be very similar to Atletico Madrid’s.

The clash between the two sides will take place on Wednesday with kick off at 20:45 CET at the Estadio Vicente Calderon in Madrid
