Thibaut Courtois clinches Golden Glove award

Hugo Lloris’ failure to keep a clean sheet last night against Leicester means that Thibaut Courtois will win the Golden Glove award.

The two goalkeepers were hot favourites for the award that is given to the one that has managed most clean sheets in a Premier League season.

But the French goalkeeper’s blunder last night has costed him the award. In the second half of Tottenham’s 6-1 trashing of Leicester, Lloris came out to intercept a through ball destined for Jamie Vardy. But the shot-stopper failed to clear the ball properly and this has led to Ben Chilwell ultimately scoring Leicester’s only goal.

With this goal conceded, Lloris has now managed only 15 clean sheets during the season. On the other hand, Courtois already has 16 matches without conceding.

The Belgian goalkeeper could still have to share the prize with his French competitor if Lloris manages a clean sheet in the last round against Hull City and Courtois either doesn’t play or concedes against Sunderland.
