Real Madrid’s scouts were present at Germany’s match with Norway, where they monitored Timo Werner.
RB Leipzig’s striker had a good game, scoring two goals under the eyes of Real Madrid’s representatives. Werner’s performance prompted his Germany coach, Joachim Low, to brand him “a rocket.”
According to AS, Real Madrid are preparing a bid for the 21-year-old. The Spanish champions are looking to add a striker to their team, as they have sold Alvaro Morata and Mariano this summer, to Chelsea and Lyon respectively. The only option for the central forward position at the moment is Karim Benzema. The French striker recently got injured and will be sidelined for four-five weeks.
Even though their interest is genuine and they face serious competition, Real Madrid do not want to hurry and have decided to wait until next summer. A January bid would not help them too much, as Werner is already on RB Leipzig’s Champions League list and won’t be able to help Zidane’s team in the most important clubs competition.
Timo Werner’s current market value is €25m. However, Leipzig are expected to ask for a much higher price if they will have to sell their striker. The German club recently agreed to a €55m fee for Keita, who will join Liverpool next summer.
