Van Bronckhorst believes City can win the Champions League

The former fullback believes Manchester City can go all the way to the final in this year’s Champions League edition.

Feyenoord head coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst insists that Guardiola’s men are capable of conquering the most prestigious European tournament this year. The Dutch champions will accept Manchester City in their opening game of the Champions League after fifteen years of absence.

The Citizens did spend big this summer, splashing well over £200 million to bolster their squad ahead of the 2017-18 campaign. Given the huge investments, it is no surprise that Guardiola’s side has been looking impressive since the start of the season. In fact, their latest Premier League feature was a 5-0 hammering against the best performing team against top 6 clubs in England – Liverpool. The Citizens completely outclassed the Reds from Anfield, making a huge statement with their showing on the pitch.

“Manchester City have had a good start to the season. They are a big club with a great coach and great players,” van Bronckhorst stated ahead of Feyenoord’s clash against City, according to Goal.

“They are one of best teams in Europe. It’s a big task and challenge for us to get a result here.

“They have players with lots of quality and experience and to me they are one of the teams that can win the Champions League.”
