Arsenal are preparing for the departure of Alexis Sanchez and Arsene Wenger has already identified a worthy replacement of the Chilean.

The Gunners will try to sign Anthony Martial from Manchester United next summer, according to the Mirror. Arsene Wenger has identified the French forward as the perfect replacement for Alexis Sanchez, whose current deal with Arsenal is set to expire next summer. The Chilean made it clear that he will not sign a new deal at Emirates.

Looking for a player with a similar profile to Alexis Sanchez, Wenger thinks Martial’s style of play and his ability to operate both out wide and cutting inside make him the best candidate for replacing Sanchez.

Anthony Martial’s role at Manchester United has been a limited one this season, with the 21-year-old coming from the bench most of the times and very rarely given the chance to play in a central position. Jose Mourinho usually deploys the French forward in a wide position on the left wing.

Martial’s current situation at Old Trafford has encouraged Wenger to think that a move could happen and therefore the French manager will try to bring his co-national to Emirates. Arsenal legend Thierry Henry claimed earlier this week that Martial is better than he was at 21.

Anthony Martial joined Manchester United from Monaco in 2015, for €60m. Although he rarely started a match this season, the French forward scored five goals and provided six assists in all competitions so far.
