AS Roma continue to monitor the progress of Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi.
Roma manager, Eusebio Di Francesco, who worked with Berardi during his time at the Mapei Stadium, would love the opportunity to be reunited with his former player, as he considers Berardi a top player.
Berardi was widely regarded as a future star a few years ago, but he never really lived to the hype around him. According to Calciomercato, he is seen in Italy as a player who has been given many chances to impress, but never matched the expectations of those around him.
However, interest in him is still high, with Inter, Roma and Napoli all having believed a few years ago that they could help the attacker reach his full potential. In fact, all three clubs have made offers for Berardi in the past, but Sassuolo rejected any approach, holding on to their €45m price tag.
The situation is different now. Berardi has turned 23 and he has failed to impress. According to Calciomercato, Sassuolo are looking to rebuild their squad and could be ready to considerably lower their demands, as they will be looking to fund other transfers.
Although interest from Inter and Napoli has disappeared, Roma are still interested in the player. Eusebio di Francesco rates his former player and would be ready to help him shine in a new environment. Atletico Madrid are also reportedly interested in Berardi.
