Napoli have turned their attention to Denis Suarez, who has not been an integral part of Valverde’s plans at Camp Nou.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Napoli are preparing a bid for the Spanish midfielder and they are confident that they will be able to bring him in Serie A, due to the player’s lack of involvement at Barcelona. The Italian journal wrote on their first page: “Napoli moves: Denis Suarez. De Laurentiis’ club monitors the Spanish talent. There’s no room for him at Barcelona and Sarri awaits him in January.”
The 23-year-old has only started two matches for Barcelona this La Liga season. Now, Maurizio Sarri, backed by Napoli’s owner De Laurentiis, seem to be certain that the player will accept a move to Italy and are ready to submit an offer.
Having appeared in a total of six La Liga matches this season, Denis Suarez scored two goals, just one less than his namesake from the attacking line (Luis Suarez has three goals in eight matches). Barcelona are hoping that the Uruguayan will regain his form, although they are already looking for alternatives on the transfer market.
In 2016, Barcelona paid €3,25m to Villareal for the transfer of Denis Suarez. This was the value of the buy-back clause inserted in his contract. However, the Catalans are now expected to demand around €30m for their player.
