Riyad Mahrez claimed that he is happy with Leicester City now and he isn’t thinking about a potential transfer in the upcoming winter transfer window as he wants to be fully focused on his performances.
The Algeria international was very close to moving to AS Roma this summer and the speculations are going on as he is said to complete his transfer in the upcoming transfer window. Claude Puel was appointed as the new manager of the Foxes and Mahrez managed to find his old form under his reign but still, it’s questionable whether they will work together even in the second part of the season.
The start midfielder spoke about his current mood as he said, according to Sky Sports: “Yes I am happy, I am happy, I’m here four years and I love this club. I am very happy. I don’t want to think about [January]. We still have 12 games to go until January, so if I think about January now I’m not going to play football. I need to play and concentrate on football and the team and we will see.”
He also made a comment about his side producing better results after Puel’s arrival: “We are playing better. When we win, it is good. We are in good form. I don’t know if it’s because of the new manager, but we are winning with him so you could say that. Of course, he brings different things and different ideas. He hasn’t changed a lot of things yet because it’s still only two or three weeks he’s been here. He needs time.”
Mahrez believes that Puel is the right man for this job as he claimed: “It’s good. He’s very calm and a hard worker. He’s an ambitious manager. I knew him from France and he had a good reputation and what I’ve seen so far, I’m confident.”
