Zinedine Zidane talked about how important Gareth Bale is to Real Madrid, and said he’s hoping the Welsh will be available soon
Despite being heavily linked with Manchester United and Arsenal, Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane claimed Gareth Bale is an important piece of his squad, even though he’s been constantly injured.
The 28-year-old attacker has been forced to the sidelines since late September, when he picked up a calf injury against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. Since then, a strained adductor muscle in his left leg has made his recovery process even longer.
Los Blancos’ French manager praised the Welsh winger saying Bale’s strong and hard-working.
“We know what Gareth can give us. He’s a very strong player, technically good and works a lot,” Zidane said.
“He’s an important player for us and he knows that. The important thing is that we have to get him back into shape and ready to play.”
When asked whether he can return against Malaga, the coach said Bale’s return is unknown for now.
“I don’t know when he is going to play. He hasn’t had any trouble today, but we’ll see when he can play.”
Zidane continued by saying Bale’s injury will probably won’t last as long as the one the winger picked up last season did. The 28-year-old was out for three months due to an ankle injury then.
“I think it’s going to take less time to get back – the injury this time will not be for such a long time,” the coach said.
“We’re in the same situation – we need him back 100 per cent but I don’t think it will be as long as last time.”
“He’s already back in training and he’s in decent shape,” Zidane added.
Zidane’s men are about to try and cut the gap between them and league leaders Barcelona to just 7 points as they face Malaga on Saturday.
