The Ukranian side surprised everyone by reaching the knockout stage of the Champions League following a 2-1 victory over Manchester City.

Shakhtar Donetsk head coach Paulo Fonseca stayed true to his promise and appeared in a Zorro mask at the post-game conference following a 2-1 win over the Citizens in the Champions League.

The Portuguese manager stated that if his side advanced to the last 16 of the tournament, he would attend a press conference with a costume and he kept his promise. Shakhtar found a way to get the better of Pep Guardiola’s side in their final group stage game in Europe while SSC Napoli were beaten by Feyenoord, which saw the Ukranian side clinch the second place in Group F.

“This is the most joyful press conference of my career,” Fonseca said as quoted by Goal.

“I feel great joy. I think not only Shakhtar’s supporters but all Ukrainians have to be proud of our team.”

Shakhtar Donetsk have a chance of facing a number of big European names in the last-16 round in the likes of Manchester United, PSG, Roma, Liverpool, Barcelona, Roma and Tottenham. The draw for the Champions League knockout stage will take place on Monday.
