Antoine Griezmann believes that his two goals in Atletico Madrid’s 3-0 win against Marseille in the Europa League final were down to his “confidence” and “poise”
The French forward’s clinical double at Lyon’s Groupama Stadium on Wednesday night’s final took his goal tally for the club to 29 goals this season and he was later named as the Man of the Match for his impressive display as Atletico sealed a record-equalling third Europa League title.
Speaking after the final, Griezmann expressed his hope that he can win further silverware and believes that Marseille was made to pay dearly for their mistakes.
“When I left my house at 14 years old, I wanted to live these moments. Hopefully, I can win more,” said the 27-year-old, as stated on ChicagoTribune.
“They (Marseille) are a team that works very well. Us, we did our thing and took advantage of every mistake. My goals came thanks to my confidence and my poise.
Griezmann has now been directly involved in 45% of Atletico’s 94 goals (29 goals, 13 assists) this season across all competitions.
