Liverpool and Croatia defender Dejan Lovren shared his beliefs that the World Cup is in Croatia’s reach as the competition is yet to be decided.
Lovren has put up a perfect performance for his time being in Russia this summer with the international team of Croatia, who were already able to secure their place in the knockout stages as they beat Nigeria and Argentina. Their next rival is Iceland, who will be facing Lovren and co. on Tuesday.
“It has been a surprising tournament and there are no favourites right now, or no teams that are likely to be easy winners,” Lovren said, according to Liverpool Echo.
“We must respect teams like Germany, Brazil, Spain and Belgium, who are all incredible teams.”
“Right now, no-one is showing on the pitch that they are far superior than any other team. Croatia is a dark horse, a bit of an underdog, but we have to show we play well and we hope to continue to play well,” Lovren went on to add.
