Raheem Sterling will start for England in Sunday’s World Cup Group G game against Panama.
England boss Southgate has told the players his line-up and Ruben Loftus-Cheek is the only change as he comes in for the injured Dele Alli, Mirror Uk confirms.
Despite doubts after England’s win against Tunisia in their opening Group G game with Tunisia, Southgate has kept faith with Sterling. Even though those doubts were fueled by Southgate’s assistant Steve Holland being pictured with training notes before training this week which indicated Sterling would be dropped for Marcus Rashford.
Manchester City forward Sterling started England’s opening game victory over Tunisia on Monday but was replaced by Manchester United’s Rashford in the 68th minute.
The 23-year-old has scored only twice in 39 internationals and has not netted in his past 21.
Although World Cup debutants Panama were beaten 3-0 by Belgium in their opening match, their coach Hernan Dario Gomez has already confirmed he will still field the same XI against England.
