Today we are going to talk about the most exciting youngsters to watch in the 2018-2019 Serie A season, we’ll go through all the details of five young talents in Italian Calcio.

With a spanking new 2018-2019 Serie A edition about to begin this month, there are always new exciting youngsters to watch who are eager to make it big as professionals and put their chops to the test every season. We will talk to you about the players who still are relatively unknown to the rest of the world, but are talented enough to peak our interest for the upcoming Serie A season that’s about to start. We won’t talk about already established young players such as Paulo Dybala, because they already have a secured spot in their clubs and defeat the purpose of this list.

1.- Lautaro Martinez (20 years old).

For some time now in Argentina, the name of Lautaro Martinez has been dropped in every single debate table in the local press as the most exciting talent they have to offer right now. It didn’t take him long to prove everyone’s point when he was signed by Italian club Inter and has shown the world the skills he has so far. Alongside Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival to Juventus and Justin Kluivert’s arrival to Roma, one could easily argue that Lautaro is one of the main reasons we can’t wait for the Serie A to begin already. Just go to the Inter twitter handle and search for the goals he has been able to score in the preseason, as well as the understanding he has with Mauro Icardi and you will see what all the hype is about.

2.- Justin Kluivert (19 years old).

Son of Dutch and Barcelona legend Patrick Kluivert, Justin has that offensive flare his dad had during his prime and then some. This lad who just recently got signed by AS Roma from Dutch giants Ajax is evolving very quickly and is only 19 years old at this point in his career. We have already seen what he can do from last season’s Eredivisie tournament in which he scored some amazing solo goals that prove he could be Holland’s hope of getting back to a major competition, the club from the capital is very happy with their purchase and already have big plans in store for him.

3.- Gianluigi Donnarumma (19 years old).

Another proven talent who wouldn’t be on this list if he wasn’t so young, it’s hard to believe that a player with such presence on the field and leadership is only 19 years old. ‘Gigi’ is the rightful heir to the throne of goalkeeper legends such as Gianluigi Buffon or Dino Zoff, he is well on his way to becoming Italy’s skipper and already is one of AC Milan’s most valuable players at such a tender age. We can’t help but wonder if this kid is poised to become one of the all-time greats in world football, but only time will tell. For now let’s just tune in AC Milan’s matches in Serie A, and watch him play against the biggest strikers in Italian football.

4.- Rodrigo Betancur (21 years old).

He already was a big part of Oscar Washington Tabarez’s midfield with Uruguay at only 21 years old, but this is the season in which the charrua midfielder should blossom into one of the best players in his position playing alongside a legend such as Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese player already knows the great company he has with Betancur covering his back, this season Rodrigo will be the midfield leader and he should embrace that responsibility without a problem due to the capacity for leadership that he has developed over the years. It’s looks like it’s going to be another great season for Juventus, but a very different one compared to the rest in where the planets were not aligned like they are now.

5.- Patrick Cutrone (20 years old).

In his second year as a professional and also under Gennaro Gattuso, this 20-year-old striker already had a dream debut in Serie A last season as one of AC Milan’s homegrown products. However, this year will be pivotal for him because he only has Gonzalo Higuain to compete against and the boss will very likely play both of them up front. Cutrone has that killer instinct that the strikers of old possessed, but he also has a great ability to take the ball from the third quarter of the field and dribble his way to the box. Also his great physique helps him quite a bit against defenders, which turns him into a nightmare for any defender that plays against him. Everybody in Milan is very happy with this young talent, they also expect him to become important for the National Team in the foreseeable future.
