For Aurelio De Laurentiis, the defeat against Sampdoria just before the international break is just a bump in the road to success

Just before the FIFA international break, Sampdoria trashed Napoli 3-0 in the Italian Lega Serie A matchday four.

Gregoire Defrel scored twice while Fabio Quagliarella scored in the second half to give Sampdoria the win.

Many called up for Napoli’s manager Calo Ancelotti to change things or pack his things up.

But Ancelotti has just coached in the Lega Serie A three games this season.

He won the first two, against Lazio and AC Milan. And his team is currently in 5th place in the standings.

Napoli’s owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has come out in defense of Ancelotti.

“Ancelotti is not up for discussion. I won’t allow myself to comment on the work of a great coach, these things take time,” he told Football Italia.

“Everyone wants to win and do it immediately, but even [Cristiano] Ronaldo at Juve hasn’t scored yet. Recoveries can be made in the second half of the season.”
